The Old Purple Martin

Years ago this gas station / car wash at the corner of Jackson and Scott was known as the Purple Martin. Today it is a Valero, still selling gas and still washing cars.

Spring Day at KSKJ

Spring has sprung here in Joliet's City Center. This building built by the KSKJ (American Catholic Slovanian Union)  now houses the Vilaseca Josephine Center which operates a day care center and convent.

Old Joliet Steel Works

Originally known as the Joliet Iron and Steel Works and most recently owned by United States Steel Works these buildings supported this community for a little over a century. Rich history which should be used to draw tourism to the city along Route 66.

Before the Planting

Every spring there is a period of time before the seasonal planting where the fields are green with weeds, the sky has a soft pastel color and anticipation of what will come is abundant. This field in Lockport annually rotates its crops between corn and soybeans.
